Biography

Travis Muñoz is a bassoonist from West Covina, California. He has been studying bassoon since 2004, graduating from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts under the direction of Dr. Carolyn Beck and earned a degree from Southern Oregon University. Travis has performed with many groups in the Rogue Valley including the Ashland City Band, Camelot Theatre pit orchestra, Rogue Valley Symphonic Band, Southern Oregon Concert Band, and the Southern Oregon University Wind Ensemble. Aside from large ensembles, Travis shares his love for music through smaller chamber ensembles and he was a founding member of the Coloratura Reed Quintet, La Forza trio, and [Reedacted] clarinet ensemble. Travis was a conductor's assistant for the Southern Oregon University Wind Ensemble and Artistic Director of the New Horizons Band. Travis serves as a graduate assistant for Dr. Gene Moon while earning a degree in instrumental conducting and currently plays bassoon for CBU Symphony Orchestra, CBU Wind Ensemble, Gold Wind Symphony. Travis also serves as a mentor to various local High School Wind Ensembles and the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles.

What inspired you to go into music?

After quitting several times I realized that there’s nothing better than playing music. I was always drawn back to it.

What is an interesting fact about you?

I love sneakers and sports. Go Dodgers!

What activities do you enjoy in your spare time?

When I’m not practicing or rehearsing I’m either running or playing basketball. Also, I love checking out different coffee shops.

What are you most excited for about this 2024-2025 season?

I’m excited to collaborate with my colleagues whether it be on the podium or playing in chamber ensembles.
