Biography

Born in Riverside, California, Francisco began learning to play the cello in the fourth grade at his public school's string program. Francisco graduated in 2018 from the University of California, Riverside, with a BA in Music with an emphasis in Cello Performance and studied with Manon Robertshaw and Ana Maria Maldonado. He served as Principal Cello of UCR’s orchestra and was able to perform as a soloist with the group. In 2020, he completed a Master's degree in Cello Performances at the University of Redlands School Of Music, studying with Kyle Champion. In his time at Redlands, Francisco worked with the University String Project and taught at an El Sistema program in San Jacinto.

What inspired you to go into music?

After hearing the cello in the 4th grade when someone came in to have us sign up for strings in RUSD I went home and said I got to learn that. Ever since the cello has become apart of me

What is an interesting fact about you?

I can name twenty digits of pi.

What activities do you enjoy in your spare time?

Video games and Rock Climbing.

What are you most excited for about this 2024-2025 season?

Dvorak’s New World Symphony.
