Biography

Christie Azzi is a student at Riverside City College, where she is pursuing an Associate of the Arts degree and plays in the RCC Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Kevin Mayse. Her passion for music was sparked in high school, where she earned the title of Drum Major and performed in various district honor ensembles, including the RUSD Honor Band and the RUSD Honors Musical. Christie's musical journey began at age five with the piano, and she later picked up the trumpet at age thirteen. She has since performed at notable events such as the Pasadena Rose Parade and RCC's Sousa Honor Band, among others.

What inspired you to go into music?

My older sister inspired me to go into music, she played the alto saxophone in our high school marching band and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. The culture of the band is what fueled my passion to pursue music.

What is an interesting fact about you?

I am bilingual and speak Arabic in the Lebanese dialect!

What activities do you enjoy in your spare time?

I enjoy spending time with my friends, going to festivals, snowboarding and longboarding, doing henna, and playing Minecraft.

What are you most excited for about this 2024-2025 season?

I'm excited to learn new repertoire in a new setting, and to meet some amazing musicians while making great friends!
